Prof. dr Asen Džolev
Head of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Pančevo

Born in 1948 in Strumica, the Republic of Macedonia. Graduated from the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Belgrade in 1972.
1972 – 1980 Employed at the Novi Sad Hospital.
1980 Started working at the Institute of Surgery at the Novi Sad Medical Faculty.
1980 Received his M.Sc. and started specialist studies in maxillofacial surgery.
1984 Passed the specialist exam; became an assistant at the Department of Surgery and War Surgery, in the field of maxillofacial surgery. He received his professional training at the Institute of Oncology, Clinic for Cervicofacial Surgery in Paris, in duration of three months.
Professional training abroad continued in 1988, 1989 and 1990 at the Clinic for Stomatology and Maxillofacial Surgery in Lyon, in duration of three months.
Received his Ph.D. in 1989, for his research in the comparative values of pectoralis major and latissimus dorsi flaps for the reconstruction of the defects in M.F. region, and in 1990 became
a docent for the subject Maxillofacial Surgery. He became the director of the Institute of Surgery, and the president of the council of the Novi Sad Medical Faculty.
1995 Became an associate professor of Maxillofacial Surgery and a vice director of the Clinical Center of Novi Sad.
Since 2000, he has been working as a full professor and the head of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery at the Novi Sad Medical Faculty.
2007 Started working at the Pančevo Medical Faculty, as the head of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery.
Member of the Association of Maxillofacial Surgeons, whose presidency he held for two mandates. Member of the Implantology Department of Serbia, the European Association for Maxillofacial Surgery, the World Association of Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the International Academy of Humanitarian and Aesthetic Sciences.
As an author and co-author, he published in foreign and local magazines and presented at the congresses a total of 170 papers. He wrote three chapters of the textbook for medicine and dentistry students and specializing students, as well as four monographs.
